Personalization:
ADWEx is a home replacement app available in the Android Market for $3.17 from Anderweb. I like it because it offers a lot of customization including: gestures, transitions, customizable docks and icons. It also offers the ability to backup and restore settings to the SD card for easy set up on new devices or after flashing new ROMs. The app is not free, but it offers so much in terms of customization that it's very much worth the cost.
ADW Notifier is a free add-on for ADW. It shows the number of unread emails in GMail, K9 Mail, SMS stock application, and Missed Calls on your homescreen.ADWEx Review: from DroidLife
